The grape was once widespread and grew like a wild vine on the eastern part of Guria and Imereti as well.
Back then, the vines were cultivated on the hills and even when uncared for it was greatly harvested and valued for its natural tendency to provide high quality wines.
No other Georgian grape variety has claimed so big a place in the country’s literature and folklore, as Aladasturi. It is to be found in historical sources as well as poems, songs, popular ballads and even proverbs… and all this in spite of the facts that the area of Aladasturi’s vineyards is significantly smaller than that of other Georgian varieties like Rkatsiteli, Tsolikouri, Saperavi and others.
The name derives from an Arabic phrase ‘Allah Dastur’, which means ‘Allah’s permission’. The historians think that the Arabs invader liked this wine so much that, as an excuse, they said Allah had given them permission to drink it.
— Excerpt from "The Wines of Georgia" , Lisa Granik M.W.
Aladasturi is a woman of strong will and independence. Women admire her, and men desire her. Even at a young age, she knew what she wanted from life and who she wanted to be. When she came of age, her father tried to force her to marry for the sake of the kingdom. But Aladasturi boldly refused the offer of marrige knowing that it meant being disowned by her family. She gathered what she could and set out west from Kartli. In the cover of darkness she flead on horseback.
The innerpower and confidence it took to make such a difficult decision, made her strict and tough. The rode that lies ahead may prove challanging, but the strength it takes to get there is something she has possesed her whole life.

I remember clearly my first impression when I received call from Mr. Vova the co-owner and winemaker of FWS. We had interesting, fun and exciting conversation. I made up my mind to visit their winery in a second. First thing I noticed when we met Vova and Zura (his best friend and co-owner&winemaker of FWS) was that both of them were very handsome elders with innocent and kind smile .
We tasted wines, discussed the wine business in total, their other products, their attitudes. The wall in wine cellar was full of their friends pictures having fest together, real Georgian Supra's with wine and fun.
These two man are wonderful example of true friendship, they spent most of their lives together as best friends in life and partners in business. They are always open to new ideas, smart, quick and intelligent.
The most importantly, they always give honest and useful advice. Spending time with such people is always cheerful, interesting and worthwhile.
