"Khashmi Saperavi" - Red, dry wine.
Color - dark red;
Aroma and taste - flawless, microbiologically healthy, body-minded, velvety and harmonious, with distinctly expressed varietal aroma .
"Khashmi Saperavi" should be produced only from the Saperavi grapes variety harvested in the Khashmi micro-zone.
The Khashmi micro-zone is located in the sub-zone of Kakheti, Sagarejo administrative district, on the southwestern slope of the Tsiv-Gombori Range on the left bank of the river Iori, on the territory between the coordinates 41 ° 43 'north latitude and 45 ° 10' east longitude.
The Khashmi micro zone includes the village Khashmi. The area of Khashmi micro-zone is 887 hectares.
Cultivation of vineyards in Khashmi area is associated with the name of Queen Tamar. Vineyards were cultivated here with her order by David Garejeli fathers . The local population has learnt the rules of vineyard care and wine-making very quickly and made quite high quality wine from Saperavi grape variety.
A Young Georgian Prince who is not yet fully mature but carries with him a sense of royalty. He has a very strong nature and sometimes exhibits agression because of his youthness. But instilled in him is the characteristics to one day take the thrown: Strength, Courage, and Leadership. He stands pridfully with a pomp expression of arrogance on his face. A true Leo, straight postured with broad shoulders; a decendant of regal and imperial power.
At first glance, he may seem too selfish. But once you can see past the royal act, there is a kind hearted boy who has the hope and perserverence to become a great king for his country and people.

Our trip to Gida Winery was one of the first trips we took together, when we decided to select Georgian wines for American customers. Despite cold and windy weather in February, we were very excited and happy. It was 02.02.2020 - I was sitting in the car and thinking that this date seems to be symbolic, it felt like this meant the changes, new beginnings. On the road to Gida, I took a picture of a car in front of us - the serial number said "WI...NE" - one more good sign.
Family winery looked amazingly beautiful even in winter, when the nature is still asleep. Beautiful yard with a swimming pool, wine cellar, little guest house, stunning wine and delicious food.
Our hosts were the youngest winemaker of the family David, his mom Tamila and main winemaker Giorgi - a friend of family who is teaching Givi and David the art of wine-making. We tasted all their wines, every single one of them was amazing. Giorgi told us the story about how the Khashmi Saperavi became the signature of Khashmi. It was interesting and fascinating.
Tamila , David and Givi's mother, was the one who got the idea of reconstructing their little family house and starting a winery. Givi and David were excited to get started and I think they got the best luck to find Giorgi as a friend in this adventure.

Gida Ltd. was founded by a family - mother and her two sons. Tamila (mother) had this idea of establishing a winery because of the special place their family house is based - Kakheti region, village Khashmi - this is a microzone for completely different and unique Saperavi grape varietal. Givi and David - her sons were excited to greet the new adventure and devote their lives to a family winery. They had wonderful opportunity to work with their family friend Giorgi - professional wine technologist that now became their teacher and guide in this amazing adventure.
For each bottle of Saperavi sold, Village Vines donates a percent of the profits to a charitable cause selected by the winemaker.
