Qvevri Wine Cellar's history started long before it would be officially registered as a winery. Ivane's grandfather , Ivane's father were loyal to old Kakhetian wine making technology and they had fantastic wine in the whole area. Ivane grew up in Kakheti, spending his childhood in vineyards an knowing that he would become a winemaker some day. He spent six years in Italy working on different projects there and taking every chance to work in Italian local wineries and expand his knowledge as much as possible. When he came back in Georgia, he registered the family winery officially and started his own wine brand. He remained loyal to his family's traditions and used his knowledge to improve the quality. He is the winemaker everyone knows and respects in his country and he is always supporting other winemakers in their needs.
Qvevri Wine Cellar is a wonderful example of a traditional Georgian family winery. Ivane's father, Ivane, his wife and his 9 years old son are fully involved in wine-making process. They live in Velistsikhe - small, enchanting village in Kakheti. Ivane became our close friend in search of high quality wines in Georgia. He is a professional wine maker and in addition to that, he has spent 6 years in Italy, visiting lot's of wineries and working on different projects. He is smart, artistic, very positive person, always ready to give a hand and always excited to discuss wine in every angle.
