The most popular grape varietal of western Georgia, Tsolikouri originates in Kolkheti (ancient Colchis, the land of the Golden Fleece). No one knows the origin of the name but Imeretian's joke that the name was given by a man so drunk from this wine, that his wife "Tsoli" needed to carry him home in her arms ("Kouri"). The vine has medium-sized, cone shaped bunches of round, yellowish-green berries This thick skinned grape variety is resistant to the most fungal diseases,and is aclimated to the more humid climate of western Georgia. Although these grapes bloom late they generous yield there fruit.
Imereti is an emerging wine region in western Georgia The traditional winemaking methods of this region involves the use of Churis (Qvevri) that are kept outside. As opposed to Kakhetian wines (i.e. Rkatsiteli), Imeretian wines use significantly less stalks and seeds within the grape must. In many cases the traditional Imeretian method of training vines up low poles is utilized.

Georgi was interested in winemaking from a young age. After his family purchased vineyards in 2009 , he got more involved in viticulture and more excited to become a professional winemaker. He is a student now, graduating in 2021. Giorgi took part in a competition and got a grant for building a little wine cellar. He took his chance seriously, worked hard and established his own family winery Georgino. His wines got Bronze and Silver medals in the International Qvevri Competition - this was his first vintage ( for Georgino) wines.
At the moment, Georgino is producing four different wines. One of the wines' Aladasturi Rose - "Makrine" is named it after Giorgi's mother .
Giorgi is passionate to gain more knowledge and experience, to expand his winery and to become the best in his field.
